About
My work interweaves my day dreams of nature, a deep sense of the interconnectedness of human lives both past and present, and a sense of irony to create work that has meaning to me through its imagery and the message. They can be thought provoking or not. My background in kite design and interest in tactile elements has definitely influenced my style of torn paper collage. Because kites are intended to look attractive when the sun hits them from the front or from behind, I therefore fram all work to take advantage of this special feature. Every piece can hang on the wall like traditional art, however, if it were hung a few inches off the wall and near a window, the piece will change in its appearance as the daylight moves through the room. Viewers are intended to enjoy the larger images of landscapes, seascapes and wildlife but hopefully as they are drawn closer by myriad textures and colors of handmade paper and the lure of reading vintage newspaper clippings they will get an instight into something else. Each piece is snapshot of a moment in nature and also a reminder that every individual moment is made up of countless other moments; that human concerns are timeless.
