Next Show

The New Year is off to a great start for my art career.  Gallery 333, which is part of the coffeehouse associated with the Unitarian Church in Annapolis has invited me to be their artists for March/April.  I need to make about 15 more pieces by then.  Thankfully, I have 6 or 7 pieces already started and I have sketches for at least 10 more.  I need to rustle up all my sketch books and make some decisions as to what sketches will make the cut this time.

What is even better is that I had already arranged to take next week off to do a practice run of what it feels like to be an artist full time.  So next week, everything during the week (and of course into the weekend) will be about my art career.

With the sales from the Muddy Creek Artists Guild show I bought a shop vac and miter clamps, a rotary cutter and more black felt.  I’ve worked on tidying up the studio so it is more functional than a large closet that became Franklin, the rabbit’s, room.  So the compressor and nail guns are in there, and the shop vac is sitting pretty attached to the miter saw.  I just need to get the shelf bracket and curtain rod back up over the closet door.

Since I don’t actually like to work in the studio, I also picked up this cool shelving unit which makes it easier for me to move my easel and supplies around. Right now I’m set up in front of the fire place but I look forward to the warmer days where I sit at the open patio door.

I’ve near completed two new pieces that are near ready if not completely ready for framing.  If I wasn’t traveling this weekend I’d build the frames then.  The three images of collages are what I worked on this weekend.

Things are moving forward, thanks. And the miter clamps just arrived, too. Franklin the Bunny is really not happy about sharing his room, though. None too happy.
